Art-Official Rocks & Waterfalls

Construction of artificial rockwork can be beneficial to your project. There are many advantages to using artificial rock over natural stone. Cost, structural integrity, lighting, sound and the overall appearance are a few good reasons to consider artificial rock over natural stone. We can create a grotto / cave with a huge rock on top of the opening without worrying if the rock may fall, or it the weight of it will harm the pool shell. We can also incorporate fiber optic stars into the ceiling of that same cave along with hidden speakers and an independent volume control inside the cave that will certainly give a mystical and surreal feeling you can enjoy. The rock structure may look like it has lots of little cracks and stones but they are all carved by hand onsite into wet concrete. This means that the entire structure is really one solid piece of concrete. Waterproofing one solid structure of concrete is relatively easy, and it ensures our clients that they will not have a leaking waterfall or that their pool will not lose water.

Another great advantage of artificial rock is that we can texture and paint the rock to meet any specific need. For instance, we usually texture the inside of a spa very smooth because people are leaning against the walls, and we don’t want the rockwork to be abrasive. We may texture and carve the front of a waterfall very rough, which will help move the water around for a more visual effect and a better sounding waterfall. If a client grew up in Arizona he/she may want the rocks to have lots of red and orange tones to remind them of the beauty of their native state. Another client from Florida may want their rocks to look more like the colors of our native coquina rocks, which are very light with whites, yellows, a little orange and some browns. Either way, coloring is not a problem for us. Artificial rocks done right with all the details you would expect and piece of artwork that you can talk about for years to come.
